Genossenschaft MIGROS Ostschweiz (GMOS) - Supply Chain Visibility with EPCIS

The Migros Ostschweiz Cooperative aimed for complete transparency of its supply chain to optimize supply chain visibility. The goal was to create a detailed network of information on goods movements and process stages using RFID technology, Electronic Product Code (EPC), and a centralized EPCIS system.

NSYNC successfully implemented an EPCIS project based on Microsoft BizTalk Server. In its initial form, it acted as a central data hub that captured RFID events and provided them in an EPCIS-compliant repository based on SQL Server. This enables precise control of supply chain processes.

In 2021, the initial implementation was decoupled from BizTalk Server, and the EPCIS services were converted into Windows services. At the same time, the NSYNC EPCIS system was ported to Azure as part of other projects, giving birth to NSYNC N:TIME.

This made NSYNC one of the first in the DACH region to successfully implement the EPCIS standard in practice.
