Blaser Swisslube - Azure Integration Services Greenfield Integration Project

Project implementation: 2023 to 2026

Challenge

Blaser Swisslube AG was initially faced with the task of seamlessly integrating its global CRM system into the existing ERP landscape in order to make field service processes more efficient. The goal was deeper automation of the registration of account master data across the entire system landscape to reduce manual steps and ensure consistent, high-quality master data management. In addition, a methodological basis was to be created to enable interface requirements to be specified and implemented in a standardized manner in the future.

The development of the methodological basis offered the opportunity to digitize further processes and integrate them accordingly. In addition to simply connecting the CRM system to the existing ERP, further sales-relevant processes were to be digitized and additional systems connected with one another.

Implementation of 20+ interfaces and connection of 10+ systems as part of a greenfield integration project.

Solution

Blaser Swisslube AG was looking for a solution to establish a stable, flexibly deployable integration platform based on Azure Integration Services. NSYNC provided a conceptual approach for this, enabling a standardized, transparent, and actively controllable procedure.

The platform is divided into three main components: the infrastructure (based on Microsoft Azure and CI/CD pipelines), the application layer (with physical, logical, and controlling components such as Ticketing or Key Relation Management (KRM)), and a monitoring system to minimize operating costs. To standardize the interface processes, a decoupled publish/subscribe principle is used (via Azure Service Bus Topics, Subscriptions, and Azure BlobStorage), allowing all process steps to be controlled and monitored independently of one another.

The digitization of the processes also required the harmonization of the underlying master and transactional data as a prerequisite for integration capability.

Connected Systems

  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM
  • Microsoft Navision
  • PIM system
  • Custom service case system
  • Custom field service system
  • and much more

Applied Integration Patterns

  • Greenfield approach with Azure Integration Services (Logic App Standard for connectivity) as the basis for the integration platform
  • Publish/subscribe architecture (Azure Service Bus, Azure BlobStorage) for decoupling the processing components
  • Controlling integration components such as Ticketing and Key Relation Management (KRM)
  • Common Data Model (CDM) for master data objects
  • Standardized N:SYNC project methodology for structured requirements elicitation and implementation
  • SYMON N:TERFACE DPM as a process monitoring and interface monitoring tool

Benefits for Blaser Swisslube

  • Establishment of a standardized, transparent, and actively controllable procedure for integration projects
  • Establishment of a stable and flexibly deployable integration platform on an Azure basis
  • Automation of repetitive manual work steps
  • Ensuring consistent master data management across system boundaries
  • Efficient operation and rapid error detection through integrated process and interface monitoring
